How to type the Em dash

In Word
Ctrl + Alt + - (use the minus on the numeric pad)

In PageMaker, Blogger, Word, or any other application that handles text
Alt + 0151

(to type the en dash, use alt + 0150)

P.S. On a Mac, it is Shift + Option + -
