Opaque jellyfish?? Hahahaha! Ya'll crack me up. Strange that something so normal should look so weird.
It's a bun with stuff in it, as yoyew said. We call it a "bao". The dot on top tells you what's inside. For example, the yellow dot tells me that this is a chicken bun. A smooth bun (without the folds that make it look like a jellyfish means that it has a sweet bean paste inside. You can get pork bao, vegetable bao, lotus paste bao, and even da bao (very big bao with everything inside, including egg).
You buy it from a steamer type thing that keeps it warm. I'll take a photo of it. :)
Btw Brian, I really really like the breakfast series you linked! Thank you!
chinese steamed buns... the original macsteamy... like a burger but the patties don't ever fall out...
i wonder what it'll be like if MacDonalds ever decides to go into the bao business... after all, they've already got that wrap thingy (chicken foldover i think it's called)... and what would you like with your double-cheese-and-bacon MacBao sir? a large Coke or chinese tea?

What is it?
It's coffee with an opaque jellyfish on top.
Right?
I stumbled across someone else's picture of that same jellyfish breakfast thing today! (I'm with Jim ... what is it?)
Series starts here.
