I came home and there were bananas on the table, happy, yellow and grinning on the glass coffee table in the middle of an empty house. I turned on the lights and went into my room; the bed winked at me; the feel of the cool sheets, the enveloping softness of the pillows, the safe warmth of the blanket seemed a lifetime ago.
And I made myself a hot cup of Yorkshire tea and put my legs up. It had been a long day.

I came home and there were bananas

ah... home! i too feel that way... how one's steps quicken when nearing one's block... a sense of urgency to close out the horrible world outside and retreat into the safety and serenity of one's refuge... throw off the restrictive clothing meant for the outsiders and slip into something casual that one feels "at home" in... even if it is all tatty and has holes within the patched-up holes... that pair of shorts one has had when still in college... wandering about the living room shoeless... raiding the fridge or eating directly from the cookie jar...
do you think heaven's gonna be like that?
and hell like some orchard road shopping mall in the midst of the great singapore sale?
haha! maybe. who knows. for sure we'll feel more "at home" than we've ever felt. :)
when I think of heaven I tend to think of C.S's Lewis depiction of heaven in "The Great Divorce". I suppose books affect us that way...
You can still fit your shorts from college? Good for you! :) I don't think I"ve ever patched up a hole in my "home clothes". I just keep wearing them until it is impossible to wear them any longer, for decency's sake.
have a good tuesday, TOT...
Sounds like a lovely end to the day!
