Joseph Koh has a guide to common Singapore Spiders here on the web. He has also written a book. There are "orb web builders", "builders of three-dimensional webs", "spiders with three-clawed legs", and get this, "spiders with two pairs of book-lungs".

My first roommate in the US had a black widow phobia. She was so scared of black widows that she would check her bed before getting in at night. Are you as afraid? Daddy-long-legs are kinda cute. :)
No, I don't see the Batik spider very often, but it is not like I go on many nature walks..
