Interesting story.. When I visited my sis in Texas, I saw a cell phone tower with a cross on top. My sis told me that the telcos approached the church to ask if they could build a tower on their land, and the church agreed as long as they put a cross on top of it. :) Talk about communicating with God. :)

Did you know that the steeple was designed to represent our yearning for God? I love the traditional cruciform plan of the church, where the interior is designed in the shape of the cross, repesenting the church as the body of Christ, and the intersection of the cross being the communion between God and man. The steeple is usually located right at the intersection.
