re: Strange how things go around... the internet is a funny place... things travel in strange orbits gathering or losing momentum, only to come back and hit you again when you least expect it... and never ever goes away... only moving in smaller and smaller eddies in some forgotten backwater until something or someone dredges it up again... sending it right back out there into the "mainstream" again..

Jim, it's in Hokkien, a Chinese dialect. Not very exciting stuff.. :)
Actually, some people pronounce Grandfather as Gong1 Gong1, while some pronounce is as Gong3 Gong2. Even Gong1 Gong1 is incorrect - more like Gong1.5 Gong2. Hiaks.

Yeah, I used to say Ah-gong instead of Gong Gong. I put Gong3 Gong3 because of the rule that if you have two 3s in a row the second one is 2. Or maybe I got it wrong..
Gong1.5 means somewhere between 1 and 2 la.
You're right about the double 3. I just put in 3 and 2 to make things easier.
