I've learned that by doing my job without any conscious effort to impress people usually does impress people.

If at all possible, avoid getting a real job.
Too late for that? Show up (on time) for work.
--you'd be surprised at how easy it is to throw a whole office off by simply not showing up.
I don't know about your job, but bring your own mug and some soft comfty slippers! :)
